LOTSA STUFF on tap this week, punctuated by an interview with Jonny Z of Milwaukee's Exotics. The Exotics headline our monthly First Saturday Surf Stomp at the Hex on April 7.

For 15 years now Radio Rumpus Room has been broadcast Fridays at 9-10:30 p.m. on KFAI Fresh Air Radio, FM 90.3 Minneapolis and 106.7 St. Paul. The show streams live on the Internet; our RealAudio archives will return on April 2, fingers crossed. Just visit the RRR web page anytime to listen to this noise and accompanying yakkin' by Ron and Jean.

SAVVY SHOW STARTER (always locally recorded!)
The Novas -- Take 7
(v/a Surfin' In The Midwest, Vol. 3; Unlimited Productions)

The Novas were the first band to record in the then-new Dove Studios in Minneapolis. At the session they cranked out an eight-minute (!) version of "The Crusher," as well as this track, their instrumental "break" song. Put on the spot by the engineer for a name for the track, they came up with "Take 7" -- the number of tries it took to record it! They later re-recorded the much shorter version of "The Crusher " that we know today. The big question is: If we have "Take 7" available, whatever happened to the long-form opus-version of The Crusher? The world needs to know...
